Vibrating Feeders and Conveyors

Lined Vibrating Feeder for castings Next

The Ward engineering team has put together a wide variety of vibrating feeders that address specific needs for each industry, many materials, and various process requirements. Some of these styles are shown here. Ward also offers a diverse number and types of vibratory conveyors, sometimes described as pan conveyors. These conveyors can have (but are not limited to) pans, tubes, or screen decks among other options for moving difficult, hot, and/or abrasive materials. Check this out with our team to see if this type of conveyor will better suit your unusual applications.

Vibrating Feeders

  • 2 Models: SVF and RVF
  • Ward Vibrating Feeders are used primarily for the purpose of extracting and feeding granular materials over short distances of up to approximately 16 ft. The duties for these feeders include feeding mills, crushers, screens, ovens and other equipment processing granular materials. They are also ideally suited for feeding materials to conveyor belts, bucket elevators and weigh hoppers through a wide range of capacities.
  • Ward Vibrating Feeders are simple to install and do not require any foundations. They are balanced free vibrating units and isolated from surrounding steelwork or structures by steel compression springs. The feeders are useful in a wide range of applications. Please contact a Ward representative to ensure this is the appropriate product for the given materials.
  • Grizzly sections can be provided at the discharge end of the pan to enable fines to bypass crushers which increases capacity and efficiency.
  • Variable Rate is available:
    • Rate can be changed by adjusting counterweights
    • Variable speed rate can be provided through A.C. or D.C. motor controls

Extra Heavy Duty Vibrating Feeders

  • Ward Extra Heavy Duty Vibrating Feeders include two major components:
    • The pan which is fabricated from heavy steel plates, wide flange beams and ship channels which are welded together to form a one piece solid pan.
  • The Ward Twin Vibrators which provide a feeding motion through counterweights rotating in opposite directions in perfect balance produce a straight line action at 45 degrees in the direction of feed. This positive motion controls the rate of feed which increases from horizontal to maximum recommended angle of installation of 15 degrees to the horizontal. Grizzly sections can be provided at the discharge end of the pan to enable fines to bypass crushers which increases capacity and efficiency.
  • Variable Rate is available:
    • Rate can be changed by adjusting counterweights
    • Variable speed rate can be provided through A.C. or D.C. motor controls
  • Advantages:
    • Low discharge height is an integral part of the design, reducing impact on the equipment receiving the discharged metal.
    • Low maintenance provided by minimum of moving parts.
    • Shock loads are absorbed by the Heavy Duty Coil Springs.
    • No-leak pan construction.
    • Grizzly section can be provided to by-pass fines.
  • Specifications:
    • 5 Models: 2VS - 80, 100, 120, 140 & 160
      • Ward Extra Heavy Duty Vibrating Feeders are designed and manufactured to provide long, efficient service, feeding and scalping material, including large lumps, to crushers and other processing equipment. These units are available in a wide range of sizes. Various speed stroke combinations are also available to suit the customers' requirements. Additionally, special units can be designed to meet specifications.
    • Twin Vibrators:
      • The Ward line of Heavy Duty Vibrating Feeders features Twin Vibrators each with a two bearing design generously sized to give long, trouble-free life. The vibrators are designed for grease type lubrication, with multiple groove seals for operation in hot, dusty service. Maintenance was a prime consideration in the vibrator design. Bearings can be changed easily and quickly.
    • Drive:
      • The drive mechanism consists of a TEFC motor with a flexible shaft coupling drive or a heavy-duty V-belt drive running in deep groove sheaves. Right or left hand arrangement is optional on all modes.
    • Dampers:
      • Damper assemblies can be provided if required, as an optional extra on all models to reduce "stop/start bounce".
    • Live Frame:
      • The live frame floats on soft, heavy-duty coil springs to isolate impact from the supporting member. The live frame itself is heavily reinforced with thick steel gusset plates. The vibrators are locked into the live frame assembly by heavy machined rings that eliminate shear stresses on the retaining bolts, thus preventing sheared bolts and elongated bolt holes, a common problem. A number of deck construction options are available, including abrasive resistant wear plates on the bottom and sides of the pan, and Grizzly Bars at the discharge end of the feeder, to suit the customers' requirements.
    • Drive:

    • Springs:
      • The highest quality spring materials are used on all Ward Heavy Duty Vibrating Feeders to ensure long, "stand up" performance.
    • Vibrator Assembly:
      • The heard of the Ward Heavy Duty Vibrating Feeders is the Vibrator Assemblies which operate on the "Circular Throw Principle" where the forces developed by the rotating counterweights are in perfect balance with the rotating forces developed in the live frame. Variations in stroke and speed can be made to provide the most efficient combinations to ensure the optimum performance. Ward Vibrators are manufactured in five standard sizes (80, 100, 120, 140 & 160). Components for each size are interchangeable.

Vibratory Conveyors

  • Ward Vibrating Conveyors are tuned at the plant to operate in the natural frequency range of the support springs to ensure minimum energy consumption. Size / capacity / performance data for the various units is provided in the accompanying tables and diagrams. Specifications are as follows:
    • Vibrators: Ward design features SKF main and eccentric bearings and Torflex wrist pin bushings. All bearings are selected for heavy duty service.
    • Rocker Arms: Incorporate standard Torflex bushings, generously sized for dependable, trouble-free performance.
    • Springs: Made to stringent quality specifications to ensure long life.
    • Pans: Can be supplied with completely separate and removable pans in a support frame. This unique Ward design provides double strength on the side walls. Slotted holes allow the pan to expand and contract in applications involving hot materials. Insulation can also be provided between the pan and support frame if necessary. Also available with support frame in thicker pan construction for lower wear applications or when using noise level reduction systems.
    • Noise Level Reduction: Sound deadening liners can be furnished for Ward Vibrating Conveyors used in handling materials that generate high noise levels such as castings, metal components, etc.
    • Model 800 V Medium Duty: Two types of Ward Model 800 Vibrating Conveyors are available. One series is equipped with conventional pans 12", 18" or 24" wide x 6" deep. The tubular series is available in sizes ranging from 8" to 18" diameter.
    • Model 1000 V Heavy Duty: Ward Model 1000 Vibrating Conveyors are available with pans 24", 30", 36", 42" and 48" wide x 8" deep. Special units can be designed to meet the customer's specific application requirements, from 18" to 72" wide.
